Crawl back from the abyss of Hell to change this lousy world!
Rudo lives in the slums of a floating town, where the poor scrape by under the shadow of the rich who live a sumptuous life,
simply casting their garbage off the side, into the abyss.
Then one day, he’s falsely accused of murder,
and his wrongful conviction leads
to an unimaginable punishment—exile off the edge, with the rest of the trash.
Down on the surface, the cast-off waste of humanity has bred vicious monsters,
and if Rudo wants to have any hope of discovering the truth and seeking vengeance against those who cast him into Hell,
he will have to master a new power and join a group known as the Cleaners who battle the hulking trash beasts of the Pit!
Gachiakuta is an action manga written and illustrated by manga artist Kei Urana with graffiti art by Hideyoshi Andou.
It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in February 2022
and won the Global Special Prize in the Comics category of the Next Manga Awards 2022.
While developing the concept for the series,
Urana thought that incorporating graffiti art would make it more interesting
and enlisted the help of graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou.
The enemies are conformity, authority and discrimination!
This phenomenal manga will be adapted into an anime in 2025!
Production will be headed by none other than Studio Bones.

Street smart—this was the very first word that popped into my mind when I read Gachiakuta.
I see the manga as being filled with knowledge and insights that manga artist Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou gained not in the classroom, but first-hand on the streets, sometimes in tough experiences that they powered through to survive.
So every page has a sort of nostalgic old-school “street” vibe that can be rough and gawky, but also so straight and powerful.
I really love this kind of work. -

The different expressions, the dynamism and sketches that Urana draws are all incredible, and I hope to do justice to this fantastic artwork.
And you can look forward to awesome action scenes too. -

When I was little, I used to sit in front of the TV eagerly waiting for my favorite anime shows to come on.
And as that little kid, I used to dream about one day having my own manga turned into an anime by Bones, a studio I love.
I’m looking forward to watching the Gachiakuta anime on the screen together with you all!
